The FAKRA standard was created mainly for the needs of the automotive industry technologies used: RF signals GPS, GSM, radio (AM, FM, DAB) which does not limit the use of connectors in other applications.

The FAKRA standard distinguishes thirteen mechanical keys coded with large letters, which are available related to color coding, which allows for easy identification
(letters A - Black, B - Cream, C - Navy blue, D - Purple, E - Leaf green, F - Brown, G - Gray, H - Pink I - Beige, K - Curry, L - Carmine, M - Orange, N - Green, Z - Sea Blue).
The FAKRA standard provides for one neutral key - UNIVERSAL Z - Navy blue , which can be replaced encoding:
